GARBAGE DISPOSAL MACHINE, COMMERCIAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to type I of Military Specification MIL-G-15840. Additional horsepower units of 5 and 7-1/2 have been added.
Intended Use
This commercial item description covers commercial garbage disposal machines for automatic grinding and disposal of food scraps.

General Requirements. The following requirements shall apply to all garbage disposal machines covered by this commercial item description.
1. Motors shall conform to NEMA Standard MG-1.
2. Machines shall be marked in accordance with and conform to Underwriters Laboratories UL Standard 430.
3. Machines shall be vertical leakproof units.
4. Overall height shall not exceed 26 inches exclusive of neoprene connector, cone or sink.
